Happy frugal New Year to all! This Sunday we're getting several coupon inserts in the paper! Looks like some good deals this week at Walgreens and CVS. Got to get ready to bring in the new year..........

Walgreens

This isn't a very good picture-I had one of those marathon Walgreens days. 3 stores and 9 transactions later-I spent $6.87 cash OOP for $289 worth of goodies. I used a total of $69 in RRs and got back $82 in RRs. Yeah!!

Target time

I was excited to hear that Target has cat food on sale for $1.84 (regular price $3.84) this week. I had 5 $1 coupons and I know that $0.84 for a bag of cat food is pretty good. I checked Totally Target blog and was able to grab a couple of good deals. I paid $8.04 on my GC for $20 worth of goodies. The regular price of 5 bags of cat food would have been $19.20!

The big container of oatmeal is $1.92 - $1 man. coupon = $0.92.

Vasoline Lotion $2.50 - $1.50 target coupon = $1.00

7th generation dish detergent $2.69-$1 target coupon -$1 man. coupon = $0.69

Turkey Pot Pie

This isn't about using coupons, but about being frugal and using up  some leftovers.

I wanted to use up some of the leftover turkey from Christmas. So I decided on Turkey pot pie. The recipe is HERE. The weather in San Antonio is rather dreary. We're spending the evening in front of the fireplace........

and I'm checking out the deals on my little laptop!

Great Deal at Walgreens!

I was so happy to pay $0.67 cash OOP for all of this! I also used $5.50 in RRs, but got back a $10RR!!! This was a perfect deal. I found 4 sinex boxes for the Vicks deal-buy $20 in products and get $10RR.  With the $4 Sinex coupons, it made this deal a $6MM. I threw in a box of puffs and used the buy 2 vicks products and get the puffs free coupon.  The Olay is buy one get one 1/2 off this week. I used the $2 body wash coupons plus the buy the body wash get the lotion free coupons. The lotion is also buy one get one half off! The Carmex is $0.69 after coupon and in ad coupon. The Christmas ornaments were my fillers-I splurged-they were $1.25 each(box of 10 each). I saved over $64 on this 1 transaction. Thank you Walgreens!

Christmas is over

Here's a picture of my homemade cookies! I haven't baked Christmas cookies in a very long time.

I got a call from the manager of the Walgreens that wouldn't let me use more than 1 Super jingle cash per day. He stated that I was right and that he was sorry I had such a bad experience. I wasn't very impressed, but I appreciate the apology.

It's been a very busy week around here. I haven't had alot of time to shop or blog. So glad tomorrow is Friday!

CVS 12/12

Here's what I grabbed at CVS Sunday. I burned some EBs and paid my bill with my CVS GC. The gum was free w/a coupon spitter outer coupon, the floss cost about a quarter each after Q and EBs. The lasting impressions and batteries did cost a little. CVS was not giving away much this week.

Walgreens, We have a problem

My daughter Amanda decided to go with today.  She wanted to get back in to the coupon shopping. She took a break last year because she started teaching 6th grade Math. Our first stop was CVS and it was smooth sailing. No moneymakers or freebies, but good deals to grab. 2nd stop was Walgreens.  This Walgreens is usally a friendly store. We grabbed all the deals we wanted and headed for the cashier. Amanda went first and we tried to get her over $25 after in ad Wags coupons and thought we had. However, she did not get Super Jingle Cash and I just shrugged it off as maybe we didn't get her over $25 before tax. Her next transaction was the same AND the cashier would let her use only 1 Jingle Cash coupon! Of course I questioned this and he was very positive about this NEW policy. Amanda was still pleased with her bargains but I was fuming. We walked over to the cosmetics counter for my 3 transactions. I was just trying to roll my Super Jingle cash into Jingle cash. The BA there told me I could use a Super and a regular together and that the other cashier was mistaken. However, after my 2nd transaction she told me that I could only use 1 super jingle cash per day! I was getting a little flustered. The manager came over and said they had received a memo about this. I then told them to void my purchase and that I would call customer service about this. I was more than a little miffed about this. I went home and called customer service and they didn't know what to say! They were turning it in the highers up and I am supposed to hear from someone within 2 business days.

After I calmed down, I went back out to another friendly Walgreens and had no problems whatsoever-except the in ad coupon for the  Hallmark money holder cards wouldn't work and they price modified them. I did about 6 transactions at this store using Super Jingle Cash and Jingle cash without any hassles. I am sooooo relieved-but I feel bad that my daughter experienced the earlier situation.

I challenged myself today. I wanted to see what I could "buy" with my free $5 Walmart gift card we got in the mail. Can you believe we were sent a free $5 Walmart gift card because the closest Super Walmart was remodeled? Well, I bought $28.65 worth of goodies and spent my $5 gift card and $0.21 cash OOP! I know I could've used several extra free or moneymaker coupons on this deal, but I didn't want to alert the Walmart police!  I'm not crazy about Walmart, but wanted to use my free $5 gift card!

This went really well for my 1st transaction of the week at Walgreens. I wanted to get my total over $25 so I could get the "Super Jingle Cash" $5 coupon, good next week. I've been doing my research and was really anxious to see if the deals work. I got my total actually to $27.56 (I guess I could've left off the free candy (after Qs of course, or the Carmex, but I wanted a little cushion.  I had read that your total needed to be $25 after Walgreens Qs, but this is not the case! Just make sure your total is $25 before coupons! I spent $9 in RRs and $1.15 cash OOP and got back $5super jingle cash for next week, $2.50JC for crest, and $3 rebate slip for the cortaid! (So, my net spending was a negative $0.35!) Not bad!

WAGS Friends and Family Day

This is one transaction using my 15% friends and family coupon and a $3/15 coupon. I paid $0.87 cash OOP for all of this!! Yes you are seeing a wireless keyboard-I decided to get this for my Wii using money maker RRs!!

I had fully intended to take some time off work today to get some serious shopping done. Well, it just didn't work out that way and I had to scramble to get this much done....................

Some highlights include-wireless keyboard, HP printer, Vitality toothbrush, fire place logs,  3 12 pks of diet coke-not in picture-already put away, diapers.............I still have $60 in RRs!!
