Happy Frugal Halloween
Darlin Dan and I made our graveyard cake this afternoon. I got the idea from Budget Saving Diva's graveyard brownies. I just used what I had in my stockpile! The tombstones are milano cookies that I grabbed a while back at CVS. The dirt is crumbled oreas I bought at Target w/ Target Q and man. Q!
The halloween candy was compliments of CVS-freebies! I've had the chocolate cake mix and frosting in the stockpile-don't remember what deal. All the creepy crawlies are compliments of CVS $5 off Halloween items. The pumpkins were grabbed at Walgreens earlies this week BOGO and paid with RRs.

Guess what I bought at Walgreens today!
I couldn't resist BOGO pumpkins at Walgreens. I visited Walgreens bright and early this morning-right at opening to be exact. What did I see- some pumpkins with a sign $3.99 buy one get one free. Since I hadn't grabbed a pumpkin yet, I decided to do a couple of moneymaker deals and thrown in the pumpkins to boot. I spent $0.38 cash OOP and $10 in RRs for 3 Alka seltzer powders, 2 balance bars, 1 fit bar and 2 pumpkins! I got $8.60 in RRs back, so I burned $1.40 in RRs for 2 pumpkins!!
Darlin Dan carved these adorable jack o lanterns tonight. We are old school, so we decided on old fashioned jack o lantern faces. Poor Darlin Dan must be very bored to undertake this tonight. He has not been back to work since his surgery and is getting tired of being a couch potato!! He started PT yesterday and is hoping to go back to work next week.

Trip to Walgreens 10/27
I spent a total of $2.34 cash OOP for all of this in 4 transactions, worth $43.07! I started with $7 in RRs and ended with $9.20 in RRs. Soooo, that means this shopping trip cost me a net of $0.14 OOP! This picture is missing one Balance bar-in my tummy-it was pretty good (the cookie dough flavor).

Turkey Breast in the Crockpot
I threw a turkey breast in the crockpot yesterday and it turned out so yummy. The recipe couldn't be any easier. I coated the turkey breast with one packet of onion soup mix and dumped it in the crockpot! It was ready in about 4 hours on high. I took the breast out and let it sit on a cutting board while I put the gravy pouch (that came with the breast ) with the juices from the breast in the crockpot.

Saturday at WAGS
I finally got to Walgreens today. I'm starting to feel a little better and I wanted to grab some of the deals before the day was over. I did this in 3 transactions and spent about $5 cash OOP. Not too bad for 12 bottles of body wash, 4 candles, 6 bags of Ricola, 2 bottles of Bufferin, 2 cans of soup, 3 Halloween bags, 1 box of Darlin Dan's fav tea, 1 blistex, and 1 mucinex nasal spray.

Really delicious 3 packet Crockpot Roast
I love crock pot cooking. A year of Slow Cooking blog had this great recipe that I made for the Sunday Swap. It couldn't be easier. Very yummy. Did I say I love crock pot cooking? The basic recipe calls for a roast (no kidding!), a packet of brown gravy mix, a packet of ranch dressing mix, a packet of italian dressing mix, and some water. I threw in some onion, carrots, bell pepper, and potatoes.

I've been feeling a little under the weather-some allergies and haven't hardly shopped at all. This was done Sunday and I'll post trans. later. I wasn't happy with the coffee mate transaction 'cuz I could use only 1 coupon. Got the Nutri-Grain 'cuz Darlin Dan loves those bars!

Greal deal at Walgreens
Here's the story of how I bought all of this for $0.23 cash OOP
Here's the deal I did Saturday at Wags. I discovered that I was completely out of Fish Oil pills yesterday. I searched through the "convenience store" and couldn't find any. I asked Darlin Dan and he admitted that he had given away my last bottle. ( By give away, I mean he sold them for $1). Since I take the Fish Oil for my cholesterol issues, I decided I needed to get some more stat. Well, Walgreens has the Nature's Bounty products BOGO and so this big bottle costs $10.99, so I'm starting out with getting 2 big bottles for $10.99. Not bad, but I knew that I could figure out a way to pay less OOP. First, I found out that there is a $1/1 man. coupon and I could use 2, even though this item is BOGO this week. So now my total is down to $8.99 for 2 big bottles of fish oil. Well, being the well informed, Blog reader that I am, I read on Wild For Wags, that I could do a $2 money maker deal if I bought 2 of the Reach dental floss w/whitening with the right combo of coupons. I figured I could even do this deal 2 times in the same transaction to make it a $4 moneymaker. (Walgreens paid me $4 to buy 4 packs of $3.99 dental floss.) Now my cash OOP is $4.99. Well, I could've just stopped here and either paid this amount out of my wallet or with RRs, but I decided to buy another pack of Noxema razors (and get $3RR back)and use the $2 coupon inside of the previous pack I bought, so now cash OOP is $6.98. I wanted to use a $3, $3, and $1.50RR to pay, so I bought 3 pair of the $0.25 knee high panty hose as fillers. OOP=$7.73-$7.50 in RRs= CASH OOP- $0.23 and I got back a $3RR for the razors. Yes, I did burn $4.50 in RRs, but hey my receipt said I saved $40+!

HEB shop-using up the cats
Okay, I have a boat load of $1.50 and $2 catalina coupons that I collected during the BTFE deal they had. I had some expiring today and by 10/19 I will have to use the rest. The catalina coupons say -Save $1.50 (or $2) off any HEB own brand item, so I have been on a scavenger hunt to find HEB brand items that I will use. Actually this is very easy because HEB has such a vast variety of its own brand items. Hill country fare also qualifies-it has to do with the bar code number on the item (starts with 4122 0).
Today I spent $8.35 cash OOP for $30 worth of groceries! That's pretty good for HEB! I did do this in 5 transactions just to be on the safe side and used a $1.50 or $2 cat each time. As it was, a manager was called 2 out of the 5 times and I have no idea why.
Thanks to Katy's Couponers for blogging about a great deal opportunity. Use the $1.50 off any Vicks from 10/10 PG on a small box of Vicks cough drops. The Vicks are .99 and each $1.50 coupon takes off the full amount with no beeping. That means .51 overage for each one you buy. I was able to use 6 coupons and I have more for tomorrow!

Quick Trip to Super T
Darlin Dan had his surgery today and I needed to fill his prescription for pain killers. I remembered that Target had a coupon in the Sunday flier for a $10GC when you fill a prescription-so being the frugal Targeteer that I am, I went dumpster diving in my own recycle garbage container (haha), and fished out that Target insert for that coupon. I ran to Super T, got his prescription for $11.75 and got my $10GC! While waiting for his prescription to be filled, I had to grab some deals. I spent $15.20 in Target GCs for $30 worth of goodies. My receipt said I saved $20.82- I'm thinking because the chicken breast was on sale-I saved $2.99, the eggs were on sale-I saved $0.76, The Pillsbury Moments were on sale- I saved a total of $1 for both, and I saved $14.93 in coupons.
By the way, Darlin Dan is enjoying his pain killers-he was very thankful when I got home with a full bottle -his first dose that the Dr. gave him wore off!!

I did the Walgreens Moneymaker Deal!
Wild for Wags posted this moneymaker deal and it works!
Buy 2 of these boxes-they are ringing up $5 each. Use 2of the $4 off Sinex product from 9/26PG, pay $2 and get a $5RR back. The Wags I visited only had 3 boxes, so at least I got to do 1 deal.

Gettin some Ground Beef
While I was out and about, trying to finish up my BTFE deals at HEB, I spotted 5 lbs. of ground beef for $6. (This is the regular ground, not lean.) I decided to use my $5 BTFE catalinas on 2 5lb. chubs of ground beef. Of course I split it up and bought each one separately so the coupon wouldn't beep. I ended up paying $2 cash OOP for 10 lbs. of ground beef.
Martinez event
ROOF
We are soooo excited........The Martinez house is buzzin- we're getting a new roof today! After a really, really bad storm last month, we discovered our roof was leaking. We went in to panic mode. We called our insurance right away and made an appointment for the adjuster to come out and look at our problems. The adjuster was so booked, that we could not get an appointment until yesterday. Our problem turned out to be pretty bad and a new roof is being put on as I write. We were able to contact a roofer ahead of time and he met with the adjuster while he was inspecting our roof. It worked out so beautifully. I am one happy camper today.
HEB
By the way, I have an HEB hangover. The deal is over. Now I have about $57 in catalina coupons to spend. The trick is to spend them one at a time on HEB products.
I had one expiring today and I had one frustrating trip to HEB. I get so anxious (in a bad way) while I'm checking out at HEB. For one thing, you don't know if the coupons will print out. Another thing, alot of times the coupon you want to use, will not scan or it beeps. (I thought I had figured out the mystery of the HEB brand coupon-apparently not!) The cashier then starts trying to force it through. The line gets longer behind me. The cashier either says that I can't use that coupon for what I bought, or calls the manager. The line gets even longer. The manager then tries to push it through. Most of the time they can. But today, the manager told me to go to the center cashier and he would give me the cash back for the coupon! To beat it all, my coupon for the Scrubbing bubbles deal did not print out. I decided to return the Scrubbing Bubbles and get my money back on my debit card. Customer service does not seem to have a problem with returns. Customer Service does not know if this is a deal-so who knows if the deal is still good. I thought I might visit the HEB where I did the deal at yesterday and try it again.
TARGET
I tried to do the Nature Valley granola bar deal at Target and did not get the $3.50 coupon back! RATS!
It's a good roof day but a bad shopping day for me.

The Last Day of the great HEB BTFE catalina deal
Okay, all good things must end-HEB BTFE $5 off your next shopping visit deal will be ending on Tuesday 10/5/10. It's down to the wire. I have lots of coupons and deals I still want to do. The problem is finding the time and energy. I am seriously considering a marathon on Tuesday!
Some HEBs have marked Progresson soups down to 4/$5. With the $1/2 HEB coupon, that makes this deal sweeter.

Super T shop
Well, I got my ice cream and my apple sauce. I picked up 5 cans of Del monte veggies-they have them for $ .65 a can and I used a $1/5 coupon(when I got home I saw that Super T only took off $ .65). I picked up a loaf of bread and used the Target bread Q and the large can of cream of mushroom soup was for my casserole for the Sunday Supper Swap.
This shop did not go as planned. I wanted to buy 10 ice creams so I could use 5 of the 2/$1 Ben and Jerry's coupons. The register was saying that I was going to get 1 Gift Card for the ice cream and I used for the manager. She couldn't figure it out, so I asked her to take 5 of the ice creams off. (By the way, Ben and Jerry's ice cream is absolutely sinful-should be against the law!)
My total was $23.28 on my gift card and I got back $10 in GCs (1 for ice cream and 1 for applesauce).
My net spent was $13.28.
Update-I'm planning another Super T road trip-new Catalina offers! Thanks to Totally Target for posting these deals-

I've already been and I used the BOGO Qs for the Airwick freshmatic ultra refills. Those things are so darned expensive and almost never on sale. This BOGO Q is great from 9/19SS. I grabbed some Martha White muffin mixes with the great 8/8RP Q. I was able to sneak in some Gain liquid detergent and use the $1 Q.
I wanted to get some cheap cream of wheat, but this store didn't have any! Time to try another store. The coupons are good for tomorrow too.
