It's a Good Day

I'm so happy to report that my niece is now out of ICU and started eating soft solids and drinking liquids today. She has a very long recovery ahead. It is such a blessing that she is still with us. This has really hit me hard and at times I've had a hard time making through the day. I haven't been feeling very good and thought it was just the stress that we had been going through, but found out by accident that I had not been receiving my complete blood pressure prescriptions. Long story short, someone messed up. We've already switched pharmacies and I've had a discussion with my Dr. My blood pressure was way too high, but has decreased since I've started taking the current medications. I've also been diagnosed with GERD- or reflux. Yikes-it hurts getting old.

I think I'm ready to get back to my normal routine. It will soon be the New Year and here's hoping for a great 2012.

Walgreens Deals

Have you picked up your free Bayer Advanced pain reliever at Walgreens yet? I went today and got some plus some free Equal sweetener. Here's how-Bayer is on sale for $1.99 with the Walgreen's in-ad coupon. I also used the $2 man. coupon, so it made it free! The Equal is on sale for $1.99 and there is a $2 man. coupon. This coupon beeped, so the cashier price modified the Equal to $2 and then the coupon didn't beep and I got my free Equal!

Day3 of Thanksgiving Break

I didn't get everything done that I wanted today, but I got a start- I organized my canned vegetable stockpile and started the fridge cleanout. My morning work schedule did not go as planned. Good thing I'm pretty flexible! We had another very warm day plus drizzle.My first client had not yet arrived at his daycare so I did a little shopping and went on to my next client. I was able to go back and see my 1st client. Then, on my way to my 3rd  client, the entire highway was blocked off. I got very anxious because of the drizzle and I didin't know another way to her house, so I just drove to my next client. Anyway, my day didn't go as planned and I was so happy to get home. I'm hoping that I have a smoother day tomorrow!

Some Good Deals today at HEB and Dollar General

I picked up my FREE Libby's canned pineapple today at HEB. These are on sale for 2/$1 and there is a $1/2 coupon in the 11/13 Red Plum insert making this a perfect deal! Thanks to Katy's Couponers for the heads up on this deal. I'm so sad that I have only 3 coupons........

Then I headed over to Dollar General and picked up some super cheap corn ($0.40 a can of Libby's vegetables).  Last time they had this deal, they were out of corn, so I loaded up-12 cans @ $.40 a can =$4.80. I used my three $1/4 man. coupons from 11/13 Red Plum (-$3) and paid $1.80 cash OOP.  Again, I am so sad that I have only 3 coupons.....

I stopped at 2 Targets today and did not find any Aveeno bar soap.......

Day 2 of Thanksgiving Break

Today,  I cleaned out the freezer part of my fridge. Now my frozen foods are completely organized and I have a written list of everything in my freezers. I've been neglecting my blog. It's a fact. We had a yard sale last weekend and it totally and completing wiped me out physically. I've been extremely busy at work and just run out of steam at night. I've been looking forward to Thanksgiving week because I have a whole week off  from my full time job!! Happy Birthday Darlin Dan

It's my Darlin's birthday and I want to wish him a very HAPPY BIRTHDAY!! We've been married 9 years and in those 9 years we've certainly been some very challenging times. He has been my rock and inspiration through our ups and downs. He is a man of his word and has always been there for me. I will never, ever forget how he took care of my Dad.  This is a long story, but my Dad needed 24/7 hour care the last 2 years of his life. We made the hard decision to move in with him and grant him his wish of living at home until the end. We had been married just 2 years when we moved in with Dad. My Mom was also very ill at the time. My parents were not living together, so this made things extremely difficult.  All I can say is that we did the best we could. Thank you Darlin Dan for being my hero!

His birthday this year is pretty much all about golf! Well, not all of it. He wished for some tires for his truck-you know how men are about their vehicles! He has golf games planned for Saturday and Sunday!! We will try to fit in a pizza (his favorite food) and another birthday cake!

Yesterday, the lovely ladies it his job, made him a very nice birthday lunch. It was so nice of them to make him Chicken Alfredo, salad, and a german chocolate cake. He really enjoyed and appreciated it.

Walgreens Good Deal on Gain

I read on Wild for Wags about this great deal and had to try it........Buy 3 gains (1laundry detergent and 2 dishwashing liquid) and get a $3RR AND a $3 OYNO  catalina coupon from Gain. Since I had a $10RR and a $1RR expiring today, I decided to throw in the Airwick  ($7.99 and get a $3RR back) and 2 Arizona teas at $0.50 each. I ended up spending $0.57 cash OOP for $17.57 worth of goodies! I used my $11 in RRs plus my manufacturer's coupons for Gain and Airwick, and got back a total of $9 back in RRs and cats!

How to have a frugal Birthday/Labor Day Weekend

Sorry for being absent for over a week! It's been kinda crazy lately. This couponing fool has hardly had time to sleep!

I wanted to share our great Labor Day/Amanda's 30th Birthday Weekend.

Darlin Dan and I booked a condo on Lake Travis using some Timeshare points-cost us $59 cash for the whole weekend! It is a comfortable little place that we like to go to. It is close to Austin, so the drive isn't too long. The entire trip took less than 1 tank of gas for my car.

We started our adventure at Panera Bread Restaurant at 6:00am on Saturday morning. We ate an "out of this world breakfast" and picked up some sweets for later!

 I had booked 6 seats on the Austin Steam Train for Saturday morning-leaving at 9am. The tickets were $17 a piece. We needed to be at the train station by 8:45am and our trip was going to take us about 2 hours. We got to the train station right in time.  We had a great time on the train and arrived at Bertram, Texas in time to see the Oatmeal parade............this is a small country town near Austin and this parade had a very country feel. It was great! After the parade, we got back on the train and headed back to the train station. From there, we checked into the condo-about a 20 minute drive. When we got there, the guys decided to go check out the golf course (very important you know) and the gals relaxed with a glass of wine.  I just happened to get this wine on clearance-some at Walgreens and some at CVS. We also had some visitors-deer! The deer came right up to the condo looking for food. The office sells deer food and the deer expect to be fed. When the guys got back from the driving range, they decided to go for a swim in the lake. The water level in the lake is very low this year as we are experiencing a severe drought in this part of Texas. I walked down with the girls and loved the beautiful view.

For dinner, we had some of my stockpile meatballs, marinara sauce and pasta. Jessica brought salad fixings. After dinner we had birthday cake for Amanda and we sang Happy Birthday is the birthday girl!! She opened her presents and we ate cake and sat around and talked for a bit. Since we had gotten up so early, we all were ready for bed before 10pm!

Sunday morning was golf for the guys ($26 a round),  relaxing and a short shopping trip for the gals. We ate our sweets from Panera Bread for breakfast with some hot coffee. As soon as the guys left for golf, I put  a 9 lb. brisket in the oven for dinner.  I've had that brisket in my freezer since Memorial Day-I got it on sale at Walmart and used one of my precious $3 off beef hangtags! When the guys got back, we served them chicken salad sandwiches and crackers w/cheese to hold them until dinner.
We had a great dinner of brisket, roasted vegetables and ranch style beans. We picked up some french bread and made a great fruit salad for dessert.
Jessica and Anthony had to pack up and get back to San Antonio for work on Monday. We were sad to see them go. We rest of us had Monday off. We watched Big Brother and then Amanda and Jerry decided to get back to SA and check on Dino-the dog! Darlin Dan and I had the place to ourselves. We had a very relaxing rest of the evening! We got up early Monday and got back to SA by noon.
We had such a wonderful time with the kids! I'm hoping to plan another family weekend trip very soon.
